CBC's Heartland has commenced for another great year. Here's the spot to discuss the last four eps. Were you as worried about Grandpa as I was?

S7: EP1 PICKING UP THE PIECES
As the family struggles to cope with recent changes at the ranch, Amy realizes she must reclaim her 'Miracle Girl' status and focus on her work with horses.

S7: EP2 LIVING IN THE MOMENT
Amy and Ty find the ranch of their dreams, while Peter attempts to mediate when Georgie and Olivia come to blows.

S7: EP3 WRECKING BALL
Lou and Tim find themselves on opposite ends of a fight when Tim attempts to rebrand Maggie’s into a soulless fast food franchise.

S7: EP4 THE PENNY DROPS
As Amy and Ty work to help a mare and foal through a difficult weaning process, Mallory’s discovery that Jake is planning to leave Hudson forces her to re-examine the choices she has made.

Hi, I'm [livejournal.com profile] pigtailedgirl and I'll be your new Mod.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     First, a big thank you to [livejournal.com profile] youngeratheart for creating this comm. Small fandoms can be hard to find in livejournal but I think this place was a fantasticly built group. This is why I'm not changing much of the rules, format, or resources. I'm new to moderating so I'm going to take it easy as well.

So, the rule changes I've made is in regard to pairing/characters, which has now become genre. This is purely to engage users by story type. I'm also thinking of keeping the community streamlined by tagging posts myself for organization.

Engaging users, new and old, is my first goal with this comm. To that end, I'm going to be launching a recap discussion free for all on previous seasons, starting with season 1 and moving on. Since I'm not familiar with the book series, if anyone is interested in exploring that avenue please speak up.

My other plans are to post, and I encourage all users to feel free to do the same for this, media clips to entice new members, challenges for fiction, picspams, or icons/artwork, and attempt to highlight our Heartland Comm through small fandom challenge groups.

So YAY, let's get like Amy and crew and work up this community as if it were Grandpa's Ranch.

I wanted to apologize for the mass posting of all the old fanfic. I had hoped that backdating them would keep them from showing up as a giant mass on everyone's feed, but I was wrong.

I just felt, since I was deleting my personal livejournal and fanfiction.net account, that I should make it so that the stories I had linked to before were in place here in the community instead of leaving behind a bunch of broken links when I go.

I'd also like to thank everyone for participating in the comm and apologize for not being a better mod. I should have turned the community over a long time ago when I stopped doing fan things.

[livejournal.com profile] pigtailedgirl is the new mod of the community. I hope it all goes well from here.
[identity profile] youngeratheart.livejournal.com
I have been MIA.

I haven't watched any of the newer episodes or responded to comments or anything. I've been a terrible mod.

I stopped writing fanfiction over a year ago, stopped doing all fan related things, and I think it would have been more fair to post this then, so I apologize.

Is anyone interested in taking over the community?

Does anyone want to see it keep going for any reason?

I am going to delete my livejournal and fanfiction.net account by the end of June (giving plenty of notice here) so when I do, if no one takes the community over... I'm not sure what will happen to it.

If someone would like to become the mod (it's a very quiet community, not too hard to manage if one actually shows up, unlike me,) please let me know.

Quiet Sanctuary
Chapter Two

Word Count:
3,056
Rating: PG-13
Pairings: Tim/Marion, eventually... Lou/Scott and Ty/Amy.
Warnings: Non-graphic discussion of child abuse.
Disclaimer: I'm never going to grow up. That means... I'm not legally responsible for anything, right?
Summary: AU. Heartland is a refuge, not just for abused and neglected horses, but for all.
Author's Note: I thought that this story was fairly simple when I started out, but then it seemed far more complicated when I put it on paper, as it were, and it wasn't the way I'd pictured it in my head. It's kind of funny how that always works...

Clarity in the Morning

without coffee... not possible, right? )

Inheritance of the Heart
Chapter Two

Word Count:
3,473
Rating: PG-13
Pairings: Lou/Scott, but mostly, eventually... Ty/Amy.
Warnings: Character death (in chapter one only)
Disclaimer: I'm never going to grow up. That means... I'm not legally responsible for anything, right?
Summary: She went away thinking it would always be there, always be the same. She was wrong.
Author's Note: I think this story is really about Amy realizing a few (maybe a lot) of things, and discovery is sometimes a slow process. Still, they should all get there in the end.

The Wrong Decision

...or is it? )
[identity profile] youngeratheart.livejournal.com

Quiet Sanctuary
Chapter Seven

Word Count:
3,028
Rating: PG-13
Pairings: Tim/Marion, eventually... Lou/Scott and Ty/Amy.
Warnings: Non-graphic discussion of child abuse.
Disclaimer: I'm never going to grow up. That means... I'm not legally responsible for anything, right?
Summary: AU. Heartland is a refuge, not just for abused and neglected horses, but for all.
Author's Note: I had wanted to include a bit of Lou's separation from Heartland, the way she felt she didn't belong there in the beginning, in the story. Lou in the books had lived for years in England and then in New York, and she didn't feel like she belonged at Heartland. The Lou here, having been away at a boarding school, had a few of the same issues.

The Promise of a New Year

or something on that order... )

I really don't have a good reason for my absence and failure to post anything at least for the episode discussions. March was a bad month for me, but I lost track of the community before then, and I'm sorry.

I was thinking, perhaps someone else would like to be a moderator and step in with the discussion posts or anything if I'm MIA again?

Anyway, if you have anything you'd like to say about the episodes, the show, the comm... Feel free to post your comments.

[identity profile] youngeratheart.livejournal.com
I know this is way overdue, and I've been having an incredibly busy month, lots of craziness and I still seem to be behind everywhere, but here's the discussion post if anyone had thoughts on the most recent episode.

[identity profile] youngeratheart.livejournal.com
I am a bit behind with this post. I apologize, everyone. Things have been rather crazy for me of late, and I still haven't caught up with the show myself.

[identity profile] youngeratheart.livejournal.com
I haven't been around much lately--super busy--but I tried to make sure and check for new episodes, and now there finally is one, so here's the discussion post.

I'm behind on the episodes myself, haven't had time to watch, but I wanted to make sure I got this up for people to use if they wanted.

[identity profile] youngeratheart.livejournal.com
I was super busy this weekend and ended up forgetting to get this post up. I apologize.

[identity profile] youngeratheart.livejournal.com
Meant to have this up before, but things have been busy.

Here we go again...

[identity profile] youngeratheart.livejournal.com
There was apparently no episode last week, but there is this week. Beyond Hell's Half-Mile, I believe it is...

[identity profile] youngeratheart.livejournal.com
Sorry, I haven't been up to tracking down the ep and being online and making this post. Here's the discussion one, at least.
