Hi, I'm [livejournal.com profile] pigtailedgirl and I'll be your new Mod.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     First, a big thank you to [livejournal.com profile] youngeratheart for creating this comm. Small fandoms can be hard to find in livejournal but I think this place was a fantasticly built group. This is why I'm not changing much of the rules, format, or resources. I'm new to moderating so I'm going to take it easy as well.

So, the rule changes I've made is in regard to pairing/characters, which has now become genre. This is purely to engage users by story type. I'm also thinking of keeping the community streamlined by tagging posts myself for organization.

Engaging users, new and old, is my first goal with this comm. To that end, I'm going to be launching a recap discussion free for all on previous seasons, starting with season 1 and moving on. Since I'm not familiar with the book series, if anyone is interested in exploring that avenue please speak up.

My other plans are to post, and I encourage all users to feel free to do the same for this, media clips to entice new members, challenges for fiction, picspams, or icons/artwork, and attempt to highlight our Heartland Comm through small fandom challenge groups.

So YAY, let's get like Amy and crew and work up this community as if it were Grandpa's Ranch.

I wanted to apologize for the mass posting of all the old fanfic. I had hoped that backdating them would keep them from showing up as a giant mass on everyone's feed, but I was wrong.

I just felt, since I was deleting my personal livejournal and fanfiction.net account, that I should make it so that the stories I had linked to before were in place here in the community instead of leaving behind a bunch of broken links when I go.

I'd also like to thank everyone for participating in the comm and apologize for not being a better mod. I should have turned the community over a long time ago when I stopped doing fan things.

[livejournal.com profile] pigtailedgirl is the new mod of the community. I hope it all goes well from here.

I have been MIA.

I haven't watched any of the newer episodes or responded to comments or anything. I've been a terrible mod.

I stopped writing fanfiction over a year ago, stopped doing all fan related things, and I think it would have been more fair to post this then, so I apologize.

Is anyone interested in taking over the community?

Does anyone want to see it keep going for any reason?

I am going to delete my livejournal and fanfiction.net account by the end of June (giving plenty of notice here) so when I do, if no one takes the community over... I'm not sure what will happen to it.

If someone would like to become the mod (it's a very quiet community, not too hard to manage if one actually shows up, unlike me,) please let me know.

I really don't have a good reason for my absence and failure to post anything at least for the episode discussions. March was a bad month for me, but I lost track of the community before then, and I'm sorry.

I was thinking, perhaps someone else would like to be a moderator and step in with the discussion posts or anything if I'm MIA again?

Anyway, if you have anything you'd like to say about the episodes, the show, the comm... Feel free to post your comments.

So... Summer's a big part of Heartland. Big part of everywhere, really. I just figure we could get some creative things going, like posting pictures of our favorite summer moments. Maybe we'll add captions to these pictures.

Pick the best summer episode, and tell the community why it's the best.

Discuss or write or vid about a summer romance.

The possibilities are endless.  :)

I thought I might give people a chance to express some opinions about the community for its improvement, to see if there is anything that could change to increase participation.

I know we're small, and I do most of the talking, but it shouldn't just be me. I didn't create this comm for me to ramble on. I want fans of the show and books to interact, and I don't see a lot of interaction. :(

I'll screen comments, and I welcome honest opinions, so please, feel free to say anything you need to.

I know this is late notice and completely random in order...

I'm very disorganized at the moment. :(

Okay, so this Sunday, and I swear I will make sure the post is up on Sunday instead of the middle of the week,  we will do the season three episode:  Man's Best Friend.

I have a particular weakness for any of the episodes that deal with Lyndy's songs and Jack. :P

The next week after will be After the Storm, and we'll add in some book discussion with that one, as well, though at this point, looking at the summary all I can see that they took from it was the title.

*ahem*

Okay, I'm trying to do this more than a few weeks in advance and alternate between episodes that deal with books and not.  Here goes:

Man's Best Friend (and although the promise ring was featured in Always There, no book reading necessary)
After the Storm (read the book if you haven't)
Lost Song
Summer's End (from A Season of Hope)
Ring of Fire
Breaking Free (another book one)
Showdown
One Trick Pony (this is in part from the book After the Storm, at least the bit with Carl)
True Enough (this is in part from the book, too)
Ties that Bind
Full Circle (from the book Every New Day)
Growing Pains
Come What May (book)
Catch and Release
Out of the Darkness (book)
The River
Thicker than Water (book)

Since these episodes also deal with things from the books and I'm not sure when the show's coming back, this could be too much already, but if we need more, we'll add in:

Gift Horse (from the book Sooner or Later)
Holding Fast
Quarantine (deals with some stuff from Darkest Hour)
Graduation (deals with some of the stuff from From this Day On and Always There, I think)

If I could remember what the name of the episode with Caleb's horse was, that deals with things from Tomorrow's Promise.

And of course any other episodes people suggest or want to add in or substitute, that is possible. Just let me know. :)

I was thinking since we're on hiatus and all, it might be nice to add to our activities with some in-depth character discussion. This came to me while looking at comments on "Coming Together."

We could take a character a week, do an in-depth look at them over the course of the series (book discussion, as well, where applicable), and maybe see some of them in a new light?

Also, just to remind everyone that next week we will do "Coming Home" as the discussion episode.  I will get back to the community with more upcoming episodes, and of course, if anyone has any they'd like to see, let me know, as always. I'm trying to balance in the suggestions from [livejournal.com profile] empty_sorrow  with my choices. Most of mine have to do with the books, so I'll let people have advance notice for them.

And, oops, the mod is a big idiot!

By that I mean that I forgot that the Ashley/Apollo and Amy helping Ashley out with her jumping was covered in a book.

Now, if I remember correctly, this was book eleven of the series, True Enough.

So... Part of what is covered in the season finale, Coming Together, is actually featured in a book, and I said it wasn't.

I'm sorry.

It's a bit late, and if you're like me, you won't want to grab the book out of order, but True Enough is partial basis for Coming Together, so it might be worth looking into.

Remember, next week is Coming Together.

The week after is Coming Home.

I hope that wasn't too confusing.
