Books Versus Television: Lou's Romantic Choices

So I was curious how other people felt about this subject.

I had read the book series before I ever saw an episode of the show, so I went into it with several preconceptions.

Things were changed, of course, when the series was created, but...

One thing that I really struggle with is what they've done with Lou.

I was for Lou and Scott from the beginning in the books, and I couldn't believe when the show broke them up. Their relationship was different, of course, but it was still Lou and Scott. I was holding out for them to get back together, and then along came Peter Morris. The relationship was... frustrating but somewhat funny. Still, when Scott and Ty were in the accident and he said he shouldn't have let her go, I was hoping he'd say something. Lou said something to Peter that suggested she still felt something.

She married Peter anyway. I've been watching the way season four turned out, and the more it goes on, the more I find myself wishing that they would just get a divorce already. I don't like thinking that. Sometimes I'm mad at Lou because she did know what he was like before she married him, but then I get mad at Peter because he doesn't seem to be doing much other than working and isn't very understanding of Lou's need to be independent and run her business.

Now she's pregnant, and I just find the whole mess so hard to watch.

Anyone else have thoughts?
