Another book based one. I refreshed my memory of the book for a bit from the season one finale, and I rewatched this episode not long ago for Big Time Cowboys (because of Lyndy's song), but I really enjoyed this episode and the book.
I will put together some thoughts later. :) I'd love to hear from anyone else, too...

Date: 2011-07-17 07:42 pm (UTC)As far as the contrast with the book goes, the book series does not discuss Grandma Bartlett much. She doesn't have a name mentioned in any of them. So Hank isn't a former bandmember, and his daughter Ruth is not Amy's teacher, either.
Still, I liked the way that the story handled Alzheimer's, and one thing I have always liked is the speech that Amy gives Ruth on the phone. Ruth accuses Amy of not thinking of people, only of horses, which really pinpoints her character for me.
Anyway, the part I really liked that Amy said, "his memories may be muddled, but they're true enough."
Hearing about my great-aunt's Alzheimer's, this book/episode has new meaning for me personally.
